  • Overview

    PRIMARY OBJECTIVE(S) OF POSITION

     

    Plans, organizes, and directs operators based on the project and state and federal requirements.

     

    SUMMARY OF EXPECTED OUTCOME(S)

     

    High quality, professional work product performed with initiative, productivity, a positive attitude and behavior. Performance should meet or exceed the established standards, goals, and accountabilities of the position.

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

     

    1. Ability to operate the following equipment based on the requirements of the project:
      • Blade
      • Dozer
      • Loader
      • Scraper
      • Forklift/Telehandler
      • Excavator
      • Bobcat/Skid-steer
      • Tractor with disk/box grader
      • Roller
      • Water truck
      • Company truck

     

    1. Follows prescribed safety regulations.
    2. Understands and adheres to Mortenson live utility protocols
    3. Ensure that all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area
    4. Oversee routine maintenance to include lubricating, fueling and cleaning
    5. Observes equipment operation to detect machine malfunction
    6. Follows work plans and pre-task cards
    7. Establish and adjust work sequences to meet schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel
    8. Involved in schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job
    9. Analyze and resolve work problems
    10. Ensure crew timecards are filled out and turned in
    11. Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
    12. Supervision and coordination of operators

    5. Ability to move levers, shift gears, depress pedals and maneuver steering wheel to operator equipment
    6. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, procedure manuals, and plans/specifications for project work scope
    7. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
    8. Knowledge of equipment and their uses
    9. Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
    10. Understanding of basic survey and grading to survey elevations
    11. Understanding of GPS machine control
    12. Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
    13. Ability to work independently

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. Equipment certifications as required
    2. A minimum of five years of related experience
    3. Must possess valid driver’s license of proper class and necessary endorsements as required by law
    4. Demonstrate understanding of soil classification and excavation/trench safety
