    As a Block Mason, your primary duties include laying block, brick, stone or precast to construct or repair walls, partitions and other structures.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Ability to lay brick, block, stone and or precast
    • Ability to build masonry leads
    • Ability to install all types of embedded items in masonry walls
    • Spreading mortar for base and binder for block, brick, or stone
    • Applying mortar to and setting block, brick, or stone
    • Leveling, aligning, and embedding block, brick, or stone in mortar
    • Removing excess mortar and finishing seam using pointing tool or trowel
    • Breaking block, brick, or stones to fit in smaller areas
    • Determining horizontal and vertical alignment of courses using plumb bob, gauge line, and level
    • Provide leadership to other team members and apprentices by displaying resourcefulness, starting work habits, and creativity in problem solving based on information and judgment
    • Ability to work with minimum assistance and supervision is required
    • All other duties as assigned
    • All team members are expected to demonstrate the following characteristics:

    Qualifications

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to work under broad assignment with established procedures
    • Ability to work according to standard instructions
    • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk crouch, kneel, climb and periodically lift up to 50 lbs
    • Strong teamwork orientation
    • Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
    • Detail oriented

    Education and Experience Requirements

    • A minimum of two years of related experience
    • Driver’s License and training certification required if operating equipment
