Provides skilled craftsmanship for maintenance and installation of electrical systems.

 

Responsibilities

 

  1. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
  2. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  3. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  4. Installs, repairs, and maintains motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring, and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations
  5. Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations
  6. Repairs and maintains high voltage systems
  7. Organizes work by receiving and studying work orders; gathering tools and supplies
  8. Reading prints, layout work and installing new service
  9. Repairs electrical problems by replacing faulty parts and components
  10. Maintains electrical systems by conducting system tests; completing preventive maintenance requirements
  11. Keeps supplies ready by placing orders
  12. Maintains safe work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with codes
  13. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
  14. Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed
  15. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  16. All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  1. Must be able to speak and understand English, ability to speak Spanish is a plus
  2. Requires some ability to read plans
  3. Ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external constituencies from varied and diverse backgrounds, including line and executive staff, person representing industry, corporate, government, and community based organizations
  4. Able to adapt communication style to the speaker and possess a high degree of active listing skills
  5. Must demonstrate emotional intelligence; being aware of the motions of self and others
  6. Must be able to operate equipment such as: table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging and form systems
  7. Strong teamwork orientation
  8. Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
  9. Detail orientation

  4. Provide work direction and oversight to Electrical Apprentice and Helpers

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. High school diploma or GED is required
  2. Trade or technical school certification/diploma is required
  3. Apprentice aptitude test is required
  4. Union specific training is required
  5. Project specific/Mortenson training is required
  6. Minimum two years of related experience
  7. Current driver’s license
  8. Cooperate with others when in a team environment
  9. Accept direction from supervisors
  10. Follow work rules and procedures
  11. Punctual and consistent attendance
  12. Accept constructive feedback
